Francis Opalko

Role at the Foundation

As the laboratory manager, I am responsible for the overall operations of the research facilities. With over 25 years of experience in both the industrial and academic arenas some of my duties include: lab safety, environmental regulatory compliance and oversight of the chemical inventory, along with various other administrative duties. Versed in a variety of instrumentation and laboratory methods, I'm responsible for inventory, maintenance and repair of the equipment.

Currently I am also working on the Piezoelectric Oligonucleotide Synthesizer and Microarrayer [POSaM] project. The POSaM is a bench top device that is capable of synthesizing 9800 different reporter sequences on modified silicon or glass microscope slides.
